Dr. Moelleken graduated first in his class, summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa from Purdue University. He was first in his class at Harvard University. He attended Yale University School of Medicine. He then spent 10 years of specialty surgery and plastic surgery residency training at University of California, San Francisco. He is one of three UCLA Aesthetic Surgery Fellows ever trained in the world. He is a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). He is a member of numerous academic and scientific organizations, Marquis' Who's Who in America and the World.
