Abdominoplasty

One of the most common procedures we perform is an Abdominoplasty or "tummy tuck." The abdomen or tummy comes in many different sizes and shapes. Time and gravity take their toll on our abdominal region. Pregnancies can stretch abdominal areas and dramatic weight loss can lead to undesired sagging or a "bulge" around the midsection.

This procedure strategically removes excess fat and skin from the abdomen and corrects weakness of the underlying muscles. The procedure helps to improve the shape of the abdomen and to narrow the waist by tightening the muscles on the abdominal wall. Many people find greater self-esteem with this procedure because improvement in contour and tone can be quite dramatic.

Dr. Samaha delicately hides the incision below the bikini or bathing suit line. While easily hidden, the scar generally extends to both sides of the hips. A "modified" Abdominoplasty may be performed for those with less to remove, therefore resulting in a shorter scar.

The procedure is usually performed under general anesthesia. Modified procedures can be performed under local anesthesia with sedation.
