Education and Experience for Fred Wilder, M.D.
Meet Dr. Wilder
After graduating magna cum laude from Harvard College in 1974, Dr. Wilder attended Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Upon finishing a five-year general surgery residency, he completed his training in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the prestigious Cronin, Brauer, Biggs program which boasts pioneers in breast implant development, in addition to cleft lip and palate repair, and breast reconstruction.
Dr. Wilder holds board certification in plastic and reconstructive surgery as well as general surgery. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery, The American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, The Cleft Lip and Palate Association, and is a past president of the Austin Society of Plastic Surgeons. Dr. Wilder was a founding member of the Austin Smiles organization, and has traveled yearly for the past 18 years to third world countries to perform cleft lip and palate operations. He is a working member of the Austin Cleft Lip and Palate Team. He has been voted one of the "Best Doctors in America" and one of Austin Monthly's "Best Plastic Surgeons in Austin." Dr. Wilder's practice now involves the full spectrum of cosmetic surgery, with a special emphasis on breast surgery, having trained with Dr. Thomas Cronin, the inventor of the breast implant. However, his training and personal interests keep him actively involved in breast reconstruction and cleft lip and palate surgery.
Dr. Wilder and his wife have been married since 1977 and have a daughter and a son. Outside of work, Dr. Wilder is active at Westlake Hills Presbyterian Church where he is an elder and teaches Sunday school. He enjoys golf, physical fitness, traveling, and snow skiing in the winter.
